Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use the system for the entire wash process?
Yes, you can, but it’s not the most efficient way to use your resin. Since the resin is designed to remove dissolved solids, using it for the initial soap-and-scrub phase will saturate the media much faster. We recommend using tap water for the main wash and saving your deionized water exclusively for the final rinse to maximize the life of your resin. This is when bypass system comes in handy.
When and how do I replace the resin?
You should replace the resin when your TDS meter shows that the water quality is no longer at 0 PPM. Replacing it is simple: unscrew the filter housing, remove the exhausted resin, clean the housing, and insert a fresh resin refill. Our systems are designed for quick and tool-free maintenance.
Does the resin expire if not used for a long time?
Deionization resin does not "expire" in the traditional sense, but it does require proper care. The two main risks during long periods of inactivity are drying out and algae growth:

Drying out: If the resin dries out, it loses its ion-exchange capacity. Always keep the inlet and outlet ports sealed when not in use to maintain moisture.

Algae growth: Resin stores captured minerals, which can serve as "food" for algae if the system is left in a warm, sunny place with standing water. To prevent this, store your system in a cool, dark, and shaded area. If you plan on a very long break, we recommend draining the water from the housing to eliminate the possibility of biological growth.
Will deionized water damage my wax or ceramic coating?
Absolutely not. In fact, it’s the opposite! Deionized water is completely chemically neutral. It prevents the mineral buildup and water spots that can etch into ceramic coatings or wax over time. It is the safest way to dry your vehicle, as it eliminates the need for aggressive wiping or chamois drying.
